Practise by Year Group

Skills and exercises matched to the UK national curriculum, from Year 1 through to Year 6.

Free primary maths practice, built around the UK curriculum

Math4Kids is a free maths practice website for primary school children in England, covering Years 1 to 6 — both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Rather than a single game or quiz, the site is organised the way a school year is: each year group has a set of skills, from counting and place value in Year 1 through to ratio, algebra basics and problem solving in Year 6. Every skill starts with a short, child-friendly explanation and a worked example, then moves into a handful of exercises that get gradually harder, so a child always starts from a point they can manage and builds up from there.

Alongside the Years 1–6 curriculum, Math4Kids has a dedicated section just for times tables practice — multiplication games, a timed challenge, a mixed quiz, an interactive multiplication chart and printable worksheets for the 2 to 12 times tables. Times tables fluency is one of the most useful foundations in primary maths, since it underpins division, fractions and percentages later on, so we treat it as its own focused practice area rather than folding it into the wider curriculum pages.

Every exercise, game and worksheet on the site is free to use, and nothing is hidden behind a login. A child can visit any year group or times table page and start practising immediately as a guest, with their progress kept for that session in their browser. Creating a free account is entirely optional: it lets a student save their scores and streaks permanently and see a proper progress dashboard, and it lets a teacher set up a class, share a simple join code with their pupils, and see how the whole class — or one individual child — is getting on. There are no public profiles or leaderboards, and a teacher can only ever see pupils who have joined one of their own classes.

Math4Kids is built for three audiences at once. For children, it aims to be quick to start, encouraging when they get something wrong, and genuinely rewarding when they improve. For parents, it is a safe, free way to support what is being taught in class without needing a subscription or a curriculum guide of your own — our Parent Hub has more on how to use it at home. For teachers and schools, it is a ready-made bank of curriculum-aligned practice and worksheets that can be set for homework, used for a whole-class warm-up, or assigned to individual pupils working at their own pace — see our Teacher Hub for details on class accounts and progress tracking.
